Once your Beeminder goal is set up, you don't have to think about it much, as long as you're doing your YNABing. Beeminder will keep checking your progress and adding datapoints to your graph. If you start to fall behind, we send you an alert. More details in the blog post.

Beeminding the balance of one of your accounts means making the balance go up over time. Not every account is like this, so it wouldn't make sense for, e.g., your checking account. But an account like a student loan account, or a 401K would be great ones to beemind! The 401K makes sense — of course you want that to go up over time, but what about the loan account? Well that balance starts out negative, and as you pay off the loan, the balance goes up over time until it reaches $0. (Ironic we call that "paying it down", isn't it?)
